3 Keys To Hosting Great Online Conversations
I've helped a number of customers host OneRoom events of late so I thought I would pause to share some of the keys we've discovered to moderating a great online event.
- Do Your Homework - Whether you use a Conversation Plan to properly stage your conversation or stock the shelves with resources that can add context to a conversation or segue to a new thread, being prepared will ensure your event is time well spent for experts and audience members alike.
- Be A Good Host - A great host sets expectations about how questions and comments will be handled, balances keeping the conversation moving forward AND ensuring everyone has a chance to have their voice heard and has an attitude of gratitude in thanking the audience for their questions and comments.
- Keep It Conversational - There are Q&A sessions and then there are conversations. If you've promised the latter, ensure that everyone has an opportunity to have their say by keeping it conversational with phrases like "Great point. Anyone want to chime in whith a follow-up question or comment?"
OneRoom allows you to simultaneously engage large numbers of people online in an interactive, real-time, text-based conversation.
